There’s nothing that drives you away from your goals and dreams more than fear. It is one of the most immobilizing feelings and is often minimized by others—Oh, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Once you jump into the pool, you’ll be okay. Fear is the negative voice in your head that sometimes protects you but other times limits your life. Fear says you can’t do things, you’ll mess up, it’s unsafe—or, worse, you’ll be sorry if you try. Here are a few of my favorite fearful writings.

Multiple Personality
by Mark Tulin
The holy man scares me
He teeters on the edge
of light and darkness
of right and wrong
of truth and falsehood
Because there’s a fine line
between good and evil
from pious to the diabolical

Reader Comment of the Week:
Thank you, Janaka Stagnaro, a fellow author at Medium.com, for your comment about my essay Open Letter to My Favorite Tramp. “What a great idea to have an open letter to someone you admire. Beautifully written. I just watched a video on some of the unsavory Hollywood personalities regarding predators. He made the top 10. As you showed with his childhood and the subsequent insecurities, I am sure that contributed to his faults. So many comedians bearing scars and shadows and helping the rest forget theirs, at least for a moment.”
